The Kilimanjaro 7 Days Machame route, also referred to as the “Whiskey” route, is currently the most well-liked ascension route up Mount Kilimanjaro. The Machame route has longer hiking days and a steeper trail than the Marangu way. However, the views are breathtaking, and the surroundings are beautiful. 3 Hours Before Flight Time
You are driven from Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate to begin your seven-day ascent. It requires roughly 45 minutes. After the paperwork is finished, the adventure starts by going through the settlement of Machame, which is situated on the mountain’s lower slopes.
We leave the park’s entrance and go up a ridge along a meandering track through a rain forest. Gaiters and trekking poles are an excellent idea because the terrain can be wet and slippery at lower elevations. We have a short way to go until we get at Machame Camp.

Following breakfast, we will depart the rainforest glades and continue on an ascent, traversing the valley over a precipitous rocky ridge. The path now takes a river gorge to the west, where it continues until we reach the Shira campground.
3050 m (9950 ft) to 3850 m (12,600 ft) in elevation
We proceed eastward from the Shira Plateau along a hill, past the intersection that leads to Kibo’s peak. As we proceed, we turn southeast in the direction of Lava Tower, commonly known as the “Shark’s Tooth” (4650m/15,250ft). The second junction, which leads to the Arrow Glacier, is located not far from the tower. Moving on, we descend to the Barranco Camp. Even though you’ll end the day at a similar elevation to where you started, it’s still important for acclimatization because it will assist your body get ready for summit day.
3850 m (12,600 ft) to 4000 m (13,000 ft) in elevation
After breakfast, we’ll depart Barranco and make our way up the Barranco Wall, a narrow ridge, until we reach the Karanga Valley and the intersection with the Mweka Trail.

Day 5: Ascend to Barafu Camp from Karanga Camp
We’ll keep going up to Barafu Camp. Now that you’ve finished the South Circuit, which gives a variety of perspectives of the peak, you can go on. We’ll set up camp here, have a nap, eat dinner, and get ready for the summit day.
4050 m (13,250 ft) to 4700 m (15,350 ft) in elevation
from there, we will descend to Mweka Camp and continue to the summit
, which is situated between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. In order to reach Stella Point on the crater rim, we shall move northwest and climb through steep scree. The hardest part of the walk both physically and mentally is this section. You’ll take a little break at Stella Point, where you’ll be rewarded with the most breathtaking sunrise you’re ever likely to witness. The sunrise can be seen from the peak by more rapid hikers.
On your hour-long journey to the summit from Stella Point, you might run into snow the entire time. You have arrived to Mount Kilimanjaro’s highest point—Uhuru Peak—as well as the highest point on the African continent!
We will start our descent from the summit by going straight down to the Mweka Camp and stopping at Barafu for lunch. For the loose gravel coming down, gaiters and trekking poles can be useful. Our final night on the mountain will be spent at Mweka Camp.

We will continue descending to the Mweka Park Gate after breakfast so you can pick up your summit certificates there. Gaiters and trekking poles will be helpful because it might be muddy and rainy at lower elevations. It will probably be sufficient to wear shorts and t-shirts, but have warmer clothing and rain gear close at hand.
